WRITERS WANTED
We are looking for freelance writers with art writing experience and a background or ardent interest in black, minority ethnic and oceanic art, to compose editorial pieces around artist biographies, artists’ practices, gallery, museum and institute visits and exhibitions, as well as art fair coverage.
Ocean Africa seeks to provide a resource for art from Africa and its diaspora to cultivate and educate the collectors of tomorrow — our writing aims to reflect that. You should be interested in writing in a bright, uplifting, semi-academic or non-academic style. Great posts incorporate some research and may delve into an artist’s practice or tease out a theme or story around an exhibition or body of works.
Assignments would be assigned on a fortnightly and monthly basis with the frequency of pieces determined between writer and editor.
Please provide a brief 200-word cover letter, links or copies to 2-3 published pieces, preferably under 600 words, as well as the names and contact details for two editors you have worked in the capacity of writer. (don’t worry if this is your first time - be confident in yourself, send to us anyway!) This is a freelance, work-from-home position, starting immediately.
WE LOVE ART
